Rough Trade NYC in-store performance October 8th.

Clipping has delivered an official and powerful new video for “Blood of the Fang” directed by multidisciplinary artist Lars Jan, from There Existed an Addiction to Blood, the group’s forthcoming album.
 
The “Blood of the Fang” visual is inspired by a photo of Huey Newton — co-founder of The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense — hand-cuffed to a hospital gurney while being treated for a gunshot wound in the abdomen after a gun battle with Oakland police in October 1967.
 
The song itself is built around a sample from Sam Waymon’s score to the 1973 experimental vampire film Ganja & Hess. Daveed Diggs’s lyrics conjure an alternate history of black political struggle in the 1960s and 70s, name-dropping radical activists and reimagining them as a pantheon of undead superheroes fighting against systems of oppression.

Clipping recently announced their first headlining shows in nearly 3 years: October 8th-November 16th (see dates below), the band will perform in support of their new album, There Existed an Addiction to Blood, out October 18th on CD, 2xLP, cassette, and a limited-edition, blood-splattered “Lamestain” vinyl 2xLP.

The band, whose October 9th show at Brooklyn’s Zone One at Elsewhere is now sold-out, just added an in-store at Rough Trade NYC on October 8th. Fans who pre-order the new album via Rough Trade will receive two passes to the in-store, and those who show up day-of can purchase the album for a single pass to the in-store. (Day-of purchases/entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis.) The blood-splattered “Lamestain” vinyl edition is sold out online, and will only be available at the in-store, at select independent record stores, and via the band’s merch table at shows.

Last month, Marika Hackman invited her fans to share stories of any time they have felt shame associated with female self-pleasure. Marika has used their stories to prompt a conversation around the taboo topic, which she has explored further in this thoughtful, and often humorous new video for “hand solo.”

Today, Sep 20th, Sub Pop Records is releasing Morning in America, a new 7-song EP of tracks recorded during the sessions for Mudhoney’s 2018 album, Digital Garbage (“…an astute, politically relevant and commendably fired-up garage punk belter of an LP,” – The Quietus). The tracks include “Let’s Kill Yourself Live Again” (an alternate version of the Digital Garbage stand-out “Kill Yourself Live,” and the bonus track for the Japanese CD version of that album), “One Bad Actor” (a new version of Mudhoney’s track on the limited-edition, and now very sold-out, SPF30 split 7” single w Hot Snakes), album outtakes “Snake Oil Charmer,” “Morning in America” and “Creeps Are Everywhere,” plus “Ensam I Natt” (“So Lonely Tonight,” a Leather Nun cover) and “Vortex of Lies” from a very limited EU tour 7”.
 
The songs were mixed at Johnny Sangster’s studio Crackle & Pop! The release of this EP coincides with Mudhoney’s fall 2019 US tour which finds the band playing the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, CA, and then Boston, Philadelphia, Durham, Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and several other cities, ending on Oct 19th in Brooklyn, NY. Morning in America will only be available on 12” vinyl and through digital services. This new Mudhoney EP is available from Sub Pop starting now. And, the limited Loser Edition of Morning in America, on white vinyl marbled with black in the US and Silver in (UK/EU), is available from megamart.subpop.com and select independent retailers in North America, UK, and Europe, while supplies last.

You can now hear Corridor’s “Domino,” a new single and insistent highlight from Junior, their forthcoming album. The band’s inventive genius is on full display here, showcasing what might be their best trick – creating singular tunes that are purposeful, full of songcraft, even as they let loose, slip their collar.

CLASH says of the track, ““’Domino’ opens with gilded dream pop with chiming guitars and frosted melodies from the streets of Montreal, before crunching into a chugging Krautrock breakdown. Dominated by a bassline straight out of Neu!’s mighty ‘Hallagallo’ the song climaxes with a straight up No Wave thrash, all downstrokes, fury, and feedback-soaked melody.”

Corridor’s Jonathan Robert had this to say of the song, “People are often glorifying what being an artist or a musician can mean. Art doesn’t necessarily make you a better person. There can be angst, stress and so on. It can have a negative, direct impact on the people closest to you. ‘Domino’ is about navigating just that. It is the first song out of Junior that we’ve composed and we’ve played it live quite a few times already.”

Corridor will release Junior, their Sub Pop debut, on CD/LP/DL/CS October 18th, 2019 worldwide through Sub Pop with the exception of Canada through Bonsound.
 
Corridor’s Junior is now available to preorder through Sub Pop Mega Mart. Since releasing Years to Burn, Calexico and Iron & Wine’s first full–length album together, earlier this year, the band have been bringing their stunning live show to fans throughout Europe, the UK, and North America. Today, the power group has announced new tour dates in 2020, kicking off January 29th with two nights at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, DC’s The Anthem, NY’s Webster Hall, Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium and more. In addition to performing songs from the new album including “Father Mountain” and “Midnight Sun”, the group also performs tracks off the critically acclaimed 2005 In the Reins EP including “He Lays in the Reins”, as well as songs from their respective catalogues. The band recently made a stop at NPR where they did a Tiny Desk performance which you can watch HERE.  Of the performance, NPR noted, “This set perfectly captures the easy patience of their interplay, as Burns, Convertino, Beam and a few of their most trusted collaborators performed two songs from Years to Burn.” Further adding, ” It’s (Years to Burn) a beautiful slow-burn of an album that often feels at ease, and occasionally doesn’t resemble either of the bands that made it.”
