Performs at Eurosonic Festival on January 17th, 2020 in Groningen, Netherlands.
Perfect Son’s (aka Tobiasz Biliński) Sub Pop debut Castwas released last year to critical acclaim from such places as Brooklyn Vegan, EXCLAIM!, Pop Matters and Big Take Over. The 10-track album features the lead single “It’s For Life,” along with the highlights “Promises,” “Lust” and the latest video offering, “Almost Mine.”
Directed by Evan and Kristina Fellers, “Almost Mine” was shot on land and underwater in Costa Rica, Iceland, Canada, and the United States. The video perfectly encapsulates how energy transitions through the self-realizing universe.

“As Perfect Son, Biliński makes hard, streamlined pop music, building waves of pulsating keyboards up around his impressive, expressive voice.” [“It’s For Life”] - Stereogum
“Typically, in this genre, artists will get dark and deep, but PS create a non-threatening, subdued landscape where Biliński’s vocals tend to float rather than cause confrontation.” [Cast] - The Big Takeover
” An electronic pulse, hip programmed percussion, and grungy guitar lines guide Biliński’s angelically crestfallen harmonies regarding losing and finding his humanity. It’s intense yet serene, with subtle but purposeful modulations in the arrangement that keep it cryptic and enthralling (8/10).” [Cast] - Pop Matters
“Cast nails both style and substance; an exciting debut.” - Exclaim!
“A heavily-layered, beat-driven dose of appealing art-pop.” [“Lust”] -Brooklyn Vegan
Greetings, Friends, Fans and Curious On-Lookers of Sub Pop! As we all do our best to keep safe and healthy in these strange and trying times, there are things we can do to stay connected and supportive. We have received numerous requests for information on how to help Sub Pop and Hardly Art artists whose tours have been directly affected by COVID-19 and worldwide social distancing mandates. And so! Right here we will do our level best to keep a current list of those artists, complete with links to ways you can support them while they are unable to tour…
We also made a playlist of the many Sub Pop and Hardly Art artists who’ve had to cancel or postpone their 2020 tour dates. Please to enjoy them here while they’re unable to come to you -> smarturl.it/spbandsathome.
Also, please note that another perfectly acceptable (if not straight-up DELIGHTFUL) way to support any/all of the artists on Sub Pop and Hardly Art is by shopping at the Sub Pop Mega Mart, the Hardly Art Shop, and our struggling friends at the many, fine independent record stores across the country (many of whom are serving you via online orders and/or in-person delivery!) who need your patronage now too.
We’ve also found a number of resources offering some hope + relief + opportunity to lend a hand:
Here we have a brand new track from the one and only King Tuff! He also has a little something to say about it:
“I’m Free” is a song I wrote a few years back which first appeared on Ty Segall’s album Freedom’s Goblin. Ty had asked me to write a song for him to record and I had this little demo laying around which I gave to him. I never really thought about it much after that but recently I was asked if I would ever release my own version of the song… so here it is! My favorite time to write songs has always been in the middle of the night. The world slows down and the little nocturnal critters start hooting, howling, buzzing, bubbling… there’s just different ideas that float around that you can’t catch during the day. This is a small song about that. The crickets and raindrops you hear towards the end of the song were recorded one night in June in Vermont outside of a witches hut.”
Thin Mind, Wolf Parade’s fifth album is out now worldwide through Sub Pop, with the exception of Canada through Royal Mountain Records. The album, which features the singles “Forest Green,” “Julia Take Your Man Home,” and “Against the Day,” was produced by John Goodmanson at Risque Disque on Vancouver Island, BC, mixed by Goodmanson at Bogroll Studios in Seattle, and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto. The album packaging features artwork from comic book artists Simon Roy and Hayleyglyphs throughout.
LP orders through megamart.subpop.com and select independent retailers in the U.S. will receive the limited Loser edition on clear vinyl with red and green swirls (while supplies last). Meanwhile, LP orders in the UK and Europe through select independent retailers will receive the limited Loser edition on yellow vinyl (while supplies last).
