Deep Sea Diver’s Billboard Heart immediately puts the band in the company of St. Vincent, TV on the Radio, and Flock of Dimes, bands that have found newly ornate and magnetic ways to make indie rock by discarding notions of how it must sound or what it must say. Dobson punches through her past here. As she howls during Billboard Heart’s rapturous title track, she is “welcoming the future by letting go of it.”

It is a triumph over self-doubt in which what first felt like failure became an opportunity to find new freedom, belief, and strength. You can hear it in each of these eleven songs, the beating heart that makes everything here feel like a new anthem for finding your own way forward.

Billboard Heart was written and performed by primary songwriter and guitar player Jessica Dobson, and her partner, drummer and band co-writer Peter Mansen, and synth player Elliot Jackson. The album also features  Dobson’s duet with Madison Cunningham (on “Let Me Go”), with additional contributions from former The Shins’ bandmate Yuuki Matthews, Caroline Rose, and Greg Leisz. Billboard Heart was produced by Jessica Dobson and Andy D. Park, with additional production from Adam Schatz, mixed by Park, and mastered by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone.

Billboard Heart, which features the official videos for the title track“Let Me Go (feat. Madison Cunningham)”  “Shovel,” and “What Do I Know,” is available on CD/LP/DSPs from Sub Pop. LPs purchased from megamart.subpop.com (US), Mega Mart 2 (UK/EU)Deep Sea Diver’s Official WebsiteBandcampyour local record store, and the band’s live shows will receive the limited Loser edition vinyl on Transparent Pink (North America), Glacial Blue (Bandcamp North America), and Opaque Pink (UK/Europe) (All limited edition vinyl colors available while stock lasts!). The Billboard Heart cover image is shot by photographer Neil Krug and from his “Spirit II” photo series.

What People Are Saying About Deep Sea Diver’s Billboard Heart:
“Frontwoman Jessica Dobson’s powerful voice and gnarled guitar solos grant the Seattle band’s propulsive, riff-laden indie rock a new level of yearning intensity.” Pitchfork

“Billboard Heart could propel Deep Sea Diver to the greatest of heights: mild indie stardom. Or at least it should, because this record is very good. But even if they aren’t headlining Pearl Jam-sized arenas this time next year, the sounds of Billboard Heart could fill one.” PASTE

“There is plenty to unpack with plenty of anthemic moments but also moments of calm that help the epic tracks to soar even more. Dobson’s vocals and guitar work are both captivating throughout in a record that rarely has a dull moment and is full of spirit and spark from start to finish.” CLASH

“The sleek, dramatic title track sets the stage with a lush, grooving indie rock bolstered by shimmery synths, textured guitar effects, and a somewhat oversaturated sound that permeates and distinguishes the album.” ★★★★  All Music

“Dobson’s slightly wounded vocals and scuzzy guitar; a slick, keyboard-festooned backdrop and, even on the straightforward hushed ‘Loose Change’ and the relatively spartan ‘Always Waving Goodbye,’ a sense of galloping ur-gency. Madison Cunningham drops in to add guitar and Pierces-style harmonies on ‘Let Me Go,’ but Dobson is the star of her own show, from the cascading choruses of ‘See In The Dark’ to the title track’s stylish chimes, and in ‘What Do I Know’ she may have found Deep Sea Diver’s key to crossover.” ★★★★ MOJO

“…Earmarked by crunchier guitars, soaring synths, and the occasional heavy drum fill (often explosion-like, as on ‘What Do I Know’). What results is a record of vast diversity and glittering dream pop, the unifying feature being Dobson’s excellent solo playing on guitar.” 8/10, Under the Radar

“Pop grandeur, gnarly fundamentalist hardcore, iridescent psych, gothic elegance, electro-rock drama and anthemic tunes with a cathedral-like grandeur - Jessica Dobson’s band serve up all of them here, so you wonder why DSD aren’t as big as Florence + The Machine…songs such as ‘Shovel,’ ‘See In The Dark’ and ‘Emergency’ punch and swagger with a defiant dose of rock’n’roll pomp and circumstance.” UNCUT

Built to Spill’s current lineup is comprised of founder band Doug Martsch, bassist Melanie Radford, and drummer Teresa Esguerra. Built to Spill’s When The Wind Forgets Your Name, and There’s Nothing Wrong With Love, are now available from Sub Pop.

Yo La Tengo are Georgia Hubley, Ira Kaplan, and James McNew. For nearly thirty years the trio have enjoyed success entirely on their own terms – playing the world’s best concert halls, museums, and dives, dominating critics’ lists, and sharing stages with some of the most important musicians of our time. In 2023, the group released its critically acclaimed sixteenth album, This Stupid World, which the New York Times dubbed “A timeless, quietly poignant distillation of the band’s singular essence” and Stereogum praised as “Another staggering collection of music.”

What people are saying about Girl and Girl:
“A fantastic debut from a sparkly and singular new band.” [Call The DoctorNME

“A perfect dose of indie – punk rock at its best.” - [“Hello”] Happy Mag

“A warped mix of Talking Heads, Rolling Blackouts and bits of post-punk but led by a man with a mullet and one of their aunts plays drums in the band!” - [SXSW Review] BBC 6 Music

“Brisbane four-piece Girl and Girl are ones to watch in the world of sharp-tongued raucous-riffed garage rock…Girl and Girl’s all too rare multigenerational collaboration brings a fresh angle on the post-Strokes garage rock sound.” KUTX Radio

“Girl and Girl recall the stalwarts of 2010s garage rock, their affinity with jangly guitars and buoyant rhythms undercut by feverishly intense playing and a cloying sense of claustrophobia.” [Call The DoctorDIY

“…every member of Girl and Girl is too young to have experienced the garage rock revivalism of Y2K firsthand, save Aunty Liss, the drummer who supports her nervy nephews in this band of Australian post-punk traditionalists. Fronted by the wiry Kai James — handsome and jittery, never reclusive — the group treated sacred post-punk texts as if they were a common language when they played the 13th Floor, giving their barbed hooks and sideways riffs real kick. They’re carrying a torch without succumbing to nostalgia or formalism, all because they’re intoxicated by the noise they make.” [Best of SXSW 2024] Rolling Stone
