What people are saying about Bully:

“The result is a confident, compelling record that reveals — and revels in — the softness behind the feedback and fuzz that continue to make Bully a force to be reckoned with.” [Lucky For You] 8/10 - EXCLAIM!

“Alicia Bognanno’s fourth album is an open-hearted, anthemic career-best.” [Lucky For You, ALBUM OF THE WEEK] - PASTE

“…Lucky For You is Bully’s best album yet, immediate and undeniable and kind of awe-inspiring in its complex simplicity.” - [Lucky For You, ALBUM OF THE WEEK] STEREOGUM

“‘Days Move Slow,’ from Alicia Bognanno’s grungy indie-rock project Bully, is a song about being caught in the muck of grief — but it also has a propulsive, bouncy energy that promises eventual forward motion. “There’s flowers on your grave that grow,” Bognanno sings in her signature holler, battling her buzzing guitar. “Something’s gotta change, I know.” - NEW YORK TIMES

“‘Days Move Slow’ is a punchy but poignant tune, an energetic and honest exploration of grief that Bully’s Alicia Bognanno wrote after the death of her dog, Mezzi.” - ROLLING STONE

“‘Days Move Slow’ is pristine Bully – sparking pop, but also working with a seismic edge… Retaining the anthemic bite she’s become known for, the sessions adding aspects of shoegaze, punk, and late 90s British guitar pop.” - CLASH

“‘Lose You’ attempts to reckon with the idea that even a love that seems like it’ll last forever isn’t necessarily immortal. Taking cues from late ’80s and ’90s shoegaze pioneers, the track is driven by a steadily, thumping beat that backdrops Bognanno’s fuzzed-out guitars: “Either way I’m gonna lose you,” she and Allison lament in harmony, before a ripper of a guitar solo near the song’s end.”  - CONSEQUENCE

“The rasp in Alicia Bognanno’s voice makes everything she sings engaging and she uses the pain inherent in that croak to great effect on ‘Lose You’” - THE FADER

“With lashings of scuzz and slacker fire, it’s a guaranteed hit with Gen X and Z alike.” [“Lose You”] - GUITAR WORLD

“‘Lose You’ is a succinct grunge-pop tune woven with stark realizations.” - FLOOD

“Featuring fellow fuzz-rocker Sophie Allison, AKA Soccer Mommy, ‘Lose You’ is one of those tracks that is filled to the brim with pop hooks and crunchy guitar riffs. As Bully and Soccer Mommy trade harmonies, the banging backing track that supports them continuously ebbs and flows through different dynamics. The sound is always ecstatic, especially when a trippy guitar solo bubbles up from the ether.” - FAR OUT

“Her fourth album is perhaps her most candid yet, and it’s all the more triumphant for it.” Upset

“Cherry-picked from the rich tapestry of alt-rock past… but all heart, specifically Alicia Bognanno’s torn, bleeding irresistible heart.” - Classic Rock

“‘Days Move Slow’ is pristine Bully – sparking pop, but also working with a seismic edge… Retaining the anthemic bite she’s become known for, the sessions adding aspects of shoegaze, punk, and late 90s British guitar pop.” Clash

“More layers and nuance than ever before… magnificently raw.” - Record Collector

Weird Nightmare, the new project from Alex Edkins of METZ, has released a cover of the Ramones’ song “She’s the One.” Edkins delivers a refreshingly low-key rendition of this punk rock classic showcasing Beatles-esque harmonies, Duane Eddy-inspired fuzz guitar, and pedal steel played by Aaron Goldstein.  “She’s the One” is available for your listening & viewing pleasure now. What people have been saying about Weird Nightmare:
“The debut Weird Nightmare album from METZ guitarist/vocalist Alex Edkins is a hook-filled set of blown-out power-pop with distorted guitars, punchy rhythms and bright pop melodies.” - KEXP

“The tension between chaos and order sparks gripping theater on songs like “Searching for You,” a descendant of “Anarchy in the UK,” the grunge-inclined “Lusitania” and the atypical, eight-minute ballad “Holding Out,” which suggests an angsty sleepwalker. Whatever the groove, Edkins sounds like a man on the verge of spontaneous combustion.” - THE BIG TAKEOVER

“Weird Nightmare is all about hooks and melody. Still delivered with levels in the red, but these are ultra catchy powerpop songs first and foremost, and really good ones at that.” - BROOKLYN VEGAN

“‘Weird Nightmare’ is Alex Edkins giving us an access-all-areas pass to his creative process. It’s an invite no-one should decline.” - NORTHERN TRANSMISSIONS

Weird Nightmare isn’t something that will have listeners running away or falling asleep. Edkins’s 10-song tracklist is a fun, energetic and zany concoction of sounds and textures that recall his main band while simultaneously taking things in fresh directions.” - EXCLAIM!

“If having fun and being free was what Edkins most wanted to come through on the recording of Weird Nightmare, he undoubtedly achieved it on his delightfully distorted and warped debut solo album.” - EXCLAIM!

“On the 10 tracks that comprise the project’s self-titled Sub Pop debut, Edkins revels in magnetic hooks and brighter, sunny melodies, exploring explicitly an aspect of his songwriting that had previously been mostly implicit.” - TREBLE

“…Weird Nightmare will bring a little noisy sunshine to your day.” - NARC

Beach House Become, Their New Five-Song EP Is Out Today On Black Vinyl/CD/CS

Beach House Become was initially released as a Record Store Day exclusive on crystal clear vinyl in April and was followed by a DSP release later that month. This Friday, May 19th it sees an even wider physical release on black vinyl/CD/CS worldwide from

Become features the songs “Holiday House,”  “American Daughter,” “Devil’s Pool,” “Black Magic,” and the title track, and was produced by Beach House, with mixing by Alan Moulder (track 1), Trevor Spencer (tracks 2, 3, 5), and Caesar Edmunds (track 4), and mastering by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound.

“The Become EP is a collection of 5 songs from the Once Twice Melody sessions. We didn’t think they fit in the world of OTM, but later realized they all fit in a little world of their own. To us, they are all kind of scuzzy and spacious, and live in the spirit realm. It’s not really where we are currently going, but it’s definitely somewhere we have been. We hope you enjoy these tunes,” Alex and Victoria/Beach House.

In 2022, Beach House released Once Twice Melody, the duo’s acclaimed, eighteen-track double album, presented in 4 chapters with lyric animations for each song

Once Twice Melody earned “Best Albums of 2022” placement from the likes of The New Yorker, Variety, The Ringer, Under the Radar, Brooklyn Vegan, The AV Club, Stereogum, PAPER, PASTE, All Music, PopMatters, Pitchfork “Readers Poll,” Gorilla vs. Bear, Treble, Magnet, No Ripcord, Uncut, Uproxx “Critics Poll,” and more.

Once Twice Melody also peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Albums Sales Chart, the band’s first-ever record to do so. It also debuted at #1 on the Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Tastemaker Albums, and Top Current Album Sales charts (see Billboard’s March 1st news story). The album also spent six weeks at #1 on the NACC 200 College Charts.  Beach House also performed Once Twice Melody standout “Superstar” on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Earlier this month, Beach House’s “Space Song,” from their 2015 album Depression Cherry, was certified as a Double Platinum digital single. Meanwhile, “Myth” from 2012’s Bloom also saw certification as a Gold digital single.

Once Twice Melody is available from Sub Pop, Bella Union (UK/Europe), and Mistletone (Australia / New Zealand), and select independent retailers in North America

What people are saying about Beach House:

“Once Twice Melody is one of the best records of the year and a testament to the virtue of constancy” (“The Best Music of 2022”) - The New Yorker

“Once Twice Melody is their most definitive and probably best work — and even more remarkably in these ADD-addled times, they’ve done it with a sprawling, 18-song album that is around 80 minutes long (#5/”The Best Albums of 2022, Jem Aswad”) - Variety

“Melody is mesmerizing, and it raises exciting possibilities of how Beach House’s sound could evolve in the next decade-plus (#18/”The 33 Best Albums of 2022”) - The Ringer

“Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally doled out four perfectly sweeping segments for their eighth full-length; taken together, they represent the pinnacle of the band’s craft. There are far too many highlights to single just one or two out: Once Twice Melody is an album that keeps on giving, immersive and rewarding, a marvel to get lost in.” (#23/”The 50 Best Albums of 2022”) - Stereogum

“From the majestic opening notes of the title track to the last electronic flourish of closer “Modern Love Stories,” Once Twice Melody is the culmination of everything Beach House do best.” (#45/”The 50 Best Albums of 2022”) - PASTE
