Light Verse is the new ten-track Iron & Wine album that features many highlights but none brighter than the Fiona Apple duet “All in Good Time” which has been embraced by fans of both artists along with radio and critics.
Its official video, which is being shared today, translates the narrative of our two protagonists in the song through the eyes of a couple finding love in cinema and dance, with the help of some mischievous kids upending their day. It’s Singing In The Rain meets The Breakfast Club.
The “All In Good Time” video was filmed at The Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge, Illinois, and is directed by Jamie Fleischel.
The “All in Good Time” video is being released ahead of the North American leg of Iron & Wine’s previously announced Light Verse headlining tour, which begins this Friday, June 14th in Milwaukee at the Pabst Theatre and currently runs through Saturday, August 24th in Nashville, TN at The Ryman.
Iron & Wine will be joined each night by the Emmy Award-winning performance collective, design studio, and film/video production company Manual Cinema. Founded in Chicago in 2010 by Drew Dir, Sarah Fornace, Ben Kauffman, Julia Miller, and Kyle Vegter, Manual Cinema combines handmade shadow puppetry, cinematic techniques, and innovative sound and music to create immersive stories for stage and screen.
Manual Cinema will perform live shadow puppetry and handmade animations alongside the band, creating a visual world that will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans.
Iron & Wine will then take the Light Verse tour to the UK and EU this fall, which begins October 22nd in Belfast, Ireland at Mandela Hall and ends November 15th in Antwerp, Belgium at De Roma. Support acts for the North American dates will be Ken Pomeroy, Amythyst Kiah, Rosali, and Sunny War, and in the UK and EU will come from Lizzie No.

Today, Iron & Wine is sharing the third listen from its forthcoming album Light Verse, entitled “Anyone’s Game,” along with an accompanying stop-motion-styled animated visual directed by Callum Scott-Dyson. The album’s first two listens reveled in what many know as classic Iron & Wine melodic structures, whereas “Anyone’s Game” draws more on the percussive and bass-driven sound the band became known for on releases like Woman King and The Shepherd’s Dog. The video’s playful nature has an almost Monty Python intro style; Scott-Dyson in explaining his process for the video says,“I used card cutouts in terms of the stop motion style, hand drawing the elements before cutting out and animating them. I wanted the video to explore themes of evolution, the cyclical nature of life, falling in love and break ups, as well as life sometimes feeling like a game of chance.”

Joining were Tyler Chester (keyboards), Sebastian Steinberg (bass), David Garza (guitar), Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, Kyle Crane (all drums/percussion) and Paul Cartwright (strings). A 24-piece orchestra makes an appearance over four tracks and Fiona Apple lent her voice - that miracle that sounds like both a sacrifice and a weapon at the same time - to a duet called “All In Good Time.”
Fashioned as an album that should be taken as a whole, Light Verse sounds lovingly handmade and self-assured as a secret handshake. Track by track, its equal parts elegy, kaleidoscope, truth and dare.
Iron & Wine is also announcing a North American headlining tour supporting Light Verse, which spans Friday, June 14th in Milwaukee, WI at The Pabst Theatre, and currently runs through Saturday, August 24th in Nashville, TN at The Ryman.

Today, November 17th, 2023, marks the release of Iron & Wine’s Who Can See Forever, an accompanying live record to a film of the same name, out worldwide from Sub Pop.
Who Can See Forever, the film, is the first ever in-depth look into the life and music of Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam. Initially conceived as a live document, Who Can See Forever grew into a deeper study of its enigmatic subject as director Josh Sliffe spent more and more time on the road. Shot over the course of three years, Sliffe digs into the myth and ethos of Iron & Wine through a series of interviews and unguarded behind-the-scenes footage that welcome the viewer into the center of Beam’s universe.
The Who Can See Forever soundtrack features songs from Iron & Wine’s 20-plus-year career and is drawn from material recorded over a two-night-stand at the historic Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, North Carolina. Along with Beam, the band features bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Fiona Apple, Soul Coughing), drummer Elizabeth Goodfellow (Allison Russell, Better Oblivion Community Center), cellist Teddy Rankin-Parker and keyboardist Eliza Hardy-Jones (War on Drugs, Grace Potter).
Produced by Sam Beam and recorded by his long-time live sound engineer Jelle Kuiper, the soundtrack was mixed by Matt Ross-Spang at Southern Grooves in Memphis, TN, and mastered by Richard Dodd in Nashville, TN.
Who Can See Forever will see the first of its screenings in New York City on December 5th at Quad Cinema (more info). The film will screen in theaters in select cities throughout 2024 before platforming to streaming services.
Iron & Wine will also appear at New York’s Beacon Theatre on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 for WFUV’s 17th annual Holiday Cheer for FUV concert. Iron & Wine will perform, along with reunited New Jersey rockers The Gaslight Anthem, dynamic singer and guitarist Grace Potter, and fast-rising San Diego trio Thee Sacred Souls. New Jersey-born, Nashville-based multi-tasking musician Nicole Atkins, who was FUV’s artist-in-residence in 2022, will host the evening.

On Friday, November 17th, 2023, Sub Pop will release Iron & Wine’s Who Can See Forever, an accompanying live record to a film of the same name.
