Sub Pop x Altamont Apparel: Now with Flannel! (finally)

We have a fond appreciation for the ideafulness of Altamont Apparel when it comes to music, art, and skateboarding. Thus, it seemed like a natural pairing for Sub Pop and Altamont to combine forces for this limited edition capsule collection. We couldn’t be prouder to share (and for you to buy) these new items.

Limited Edition Sub Pop x Altamont Logo Patch Flannel. [None more grunge.]

Founded in 2006 and rooted in the Los Angeles skate industry, Altamont has a long history of collaborating with the art & music worlds. Sub Pop family members No Age, Rick Froberg of the Obits, Tim Kerr, and Mogwai have all partnered with Altamont to bring their unique visions to life.

For Fall 2016 we worked with Altamont to create a collection consisting of 2 printed tees, a flannel shirt, denim jacket, and a beanie.

Take a peek at this short video wherein our very own art director extraordinaire, Sasha Barr, talks about at the record label, the history of Sub Pop music in skate videos and how the collaboration with Altamont came to be realized.

Also with skateboard.

The Sub Pop x Altamont collection is available now in the Sub Pop Mega Mart, while supplies last.

So Pitted Are Back With A Brand New Video for “woe” + Tour News

Seattle weirdo punks So Pitted just premiered an official video for “woe” from neo (their Sub Pop debut) via the discerning music consumers of Brooklyn Vegan. The visual was shot in Seattle and directed by the Fabulous Downey Brothers, and it’s poised to deliver 100% of your daily value for weirdness.

Brooklyn Vegan describe it thusly: “Featuring some out-there animation and green-screen antics, it’s a hyperreal match to So Pitted’s melted noise (see premiere September 19th).”

So Pitted have also scheduled a fall tour in support of neo, acting as direct support for The Garden. The trek begins October 9th in Reno, NV at Holland Project and ends November 4th in Santa Barbara, CA at Velvet Jones. You’ll find a complete list of tour dates right over here.

So Pitted recently visited 90.3 KEXP for a live performance. Watch the session, to see performances of neo highlights “cat scratch,” “pay attention to me,” “woe,” PLUS a new track titled “no name #4.” You can also watch the band’s recent (+very official +very fun) Jane Child inspired video, “feed me.”

So Pitted’s neo is now available on CD / LP / DL / CASS worldwide wherever fine records are sold, and also here.

The Gotobeds’ Announce Cold November Rain Tour; First Leg w/Hardly Art’s Protomartyr

This November, Pittsburgh punks The Gotobeds will leave the warm comfort of their homes in Pittsburgh, PA to tour across North America and back again in support of their 2016 Sub Pop album, Blood // Sugar // Secs // Traffic

The Cold November Rain Tour begins on November 2nd in Chicago, IL, with stops in Little Rock, Los Angeles, Seattle, and several other cities, finally ending November 21st in Milwaukee, WI. (see listing below) For the first eight of these shows, The Gotobeds will be accompanied by their close, personal friends in the very good band called Protomartyr

In the bio for Blood // Sugar // Secs // Traffic (a bio, we should note, he was paid handsomely to write), Protomartyr’s Joe Casey offered the following endorsement of The Gotobeds’ live performances: “…the band’s live show is a testament to the cathartic nature of speed, skill, repetition, noise, and red stage lights.” And, The Gotobeds’ singer/guitarist Eli Kasan had this to say about the upcoming tour:

“The last time these two giants of rock met resulted in a near arrest for whatever you would call ‘intoxicated on psychedelic mushrooms, in a hotel, while watching sports bloopers at 5am.’ This time it’s PERSONAL, Best Western.”

Blood // Sugar // Secs // Traffic features “Real Maths/Too Much,” “Brass Not Rash,” “Bodies,” “Cold Gold (LA’s Alright),” and several other arguably excellent songs you can (and should) hear in this FULL ALBUM STREAM, and is available now for purchase right here.

Listen To GOAT’s New Track “Union of Mind and Soul”; Full-Length ‘Requiem’ Is Out October 7

“Union of Mind and Soul” is an alternate-vocal version of “Union of Sun and Moon,” the first track off GOAT’s upcoming album, Requiem. This reworking of the album track is available through all digital services, and will be included in the digital download that comes with the Requiem vinyl LP.

Requiem will be available in North America on CD / 2xLP / DL / CASS on October 7th, 2016. (via Stranded Rekords in Nordic countries, and Rocket Recordings in the rest of the world.)  North American fans can (and should) preorder* the new record here

*LP pre-orders through the Sub Pop Mega Mart and independent record stores will receive the limited Loser Edition on translucent red vinyl with black streaks (as pictured below) while supplies last.

GOAT will be touring Europe throughout the fall, with more dates to follow. These dates, and related ticket links, may be found here.

Requiem finds Swedish psych explorers GOAT focusing more on their subdued, bucolic ritualism than psilocybin freakouts. A pronounced folk-rock influence pervades the album, with stand-out tracks “Alarms,” “Try My Robe,” and “Union of Sun and Moon.”  But GOAT hasn’t foregone their fiery charms—tracks like “All-Seeing Eye” and “Goatfuzz” conjure the sultry pulsations that ensnared us on 2012’s World Music and 2014’s Commune.
