Hundreds of impressive applications came across our virtual desks this year, which made finding our Loser Winners no easy task. Our Looser Chooser (TM) scholarship committee spent hours reading through an exceptional bunch of applications and at the end of a very difficult decision-making process, the committee has come up with three ultramega-OK, life-affirming scholarship winners. Congratulations to the winners and a huge, heartfelt thanks to all who took the time to apply, you have inspired us beyond belief!

In no particular order, we are thrilled to present our Loser Scholarship winners:

Blue from Seattle, WA blew (pun intended) us away with their short films and music video. We were inspired by Blue’s ability to break out of conformity and love that they found community in the local punk scene. We can’t wait to one day watch the feature film you will no doubt direct. We know the music in it will be kick-ass! Congratulations Loser!

Kelsey is a musician, artist and self-described “lifelong weirdo” from Portland, OR. Kelsey’s essay was beautifully written and immediately drew us in. We loved Kelsey’s artwork and were impressed with the years of musicianship under her belt. We look forward to seeing what you go on to do. Thanks for sharing your world with us, Loser!

Paloma is photographer from Seattle, WA who has experimented with different techniques and styles over the years. Paloma’s community involvement really inspired us, especially how she uses her photography to document protests and gatherings. We were impressed with how many organizations and events she’s involved with. On top of that, we were especially drawn to her film portraits. Thank you for all you do, Loser!
