What People Are Saying About Father John Misty’s Chloë and the Next 20th Century:

“Stunningly melodic… Tillman’s voice sounds fantastic throughout… It feels like an artist who’s spent time wondering what the point was, making peace with what he does, even – or especially – if it involves escapism. Sinking into Chloë and the Next 20th Century’s lush, sepia-toned arrangements, escaping with him is a pleasure (“Album of the Week”).” ★★★★ The Guardian

“Tillman’s writerly skills would have shone in any era… He offers a moving reminder of the beauty of life’s impermanence…As Chloë and the Next 20th Century sees Father John Misty escaping into his own parallel Hollywood reality, it’s highly entertaining to slip in alongside him.” ★★★★ MOJO

“Chloë.. is maximum Misty from tip to twinkly toe… As woodwinds flutter and strings swoon, Tillman’s voice rises to the occasion: his rich, warm delivery pulls you into the songs, barbed asides and beautiful melancholy impeccably balanced… Tillman’s writing brims with story-song riches, countering 21st-century cynicism with old-school romanticism.”★★★★ - Record Collector

“Singles “Funny Girl,” “Q4” and “Goodbye, Mr. Blue” are sprawling and ornate, like novellas set to instrumentation that spans FJM’s many styles, widescreen baroque pop that folds in both Old Hollywood and Americana. After the painfully personal “God’s Favorite Customer, there’s a distinct comfort in Tillman’s return to spinning detailed fictions at scale—and, as ever, spotting the truths wrapped up in it all is just part of the fun (“10 Albums We’re Most Excited About For April).” - PASTE

“Josh Tillman’s sharp lyricism often aims for the head…but here he goes straight for the heart. ‘Goodbye Mr. Blue’…is a simulacrum of the ’70s singer-songwriter sound; Harry Nilsson is an obvious touch point, but there are also shades of Jim Croce and even John Denver in the song’s fingerpicked guitars and chatty warmth. ‘That Turkish Angora is ’bout the only thing left of me and you,’ Tillman croons, filtering a story of a relationship’s slow, inevitable end through the death of the titular pet cat. It’s sweet, a little funny, and then ultimately devastating, as Tillman repeats an increasingly elegiac refrain, ‘Don’t the last time come too soon?” [“Goodbye Mr. Blue”] - New York Times

“Gorgeous and absurd; in other words, it’s quintessential Father John Misty.” [“Q4”] - PASTE

“A lovely, languid gem that shows Tillman quietly reintroducing himself  — with a little help from an orchestral arrangement that echoes old Hollywood…in classic Misty fashion, leaves us quizzically charmed (“Song You Need To Know”).” [“Funny Girl”] - Rolling Stone

“[A] lush and romantic ballad…and shows that there’s much more to Josh Tillman… (‘20 Best Rock Songs Right Now’).” [“Funny Girl”] - The FADER

“Brilliant and moving… His vivid, imaginative fifth album swerves between lounge jazz and romantic reveries.” - PROG

“Unmistakably a Father John Misty record, he ranges across a number of styles with panache… It’s great to have Tillman back in all his grandiose brilliance.” ★★★★ - Morning Star

SUKI WATERHOUSE RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR SINGLE “DEVIL I KNOW”

Suki Waterhouse released a new video for her newest track, “Devil I Know,” off the upcoming debut album, I Can’t Let Go, which will be released Friday, April 22nd via Sub Pop Records. “Devil I Know” and I Can’t Let Go are both produced by Grammy-Nominated Producer & Songwriter Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee). “Devil I Know” is the fourth release off I Can’t Let Go; “Moves, “My Mind,” and “Melrose Meltdown” were the album’s first three tracks.

“Devil I Know” has previously appeared on numerous television shows including “The L Word” and “YOU,” and is due to be featured on the upcoming season of “Riverdale” as well. In the sultry song, Suki’s vocals are paired with synthesized guitar strums as she repeatedly dedicates herself to “staying faithful to the devil I know.” Suki mournfully sings “I’m okay with history repeating, tell me I’m the one you can’t forget,” an ode to someone she finds herself tied to with no means of extricating herself from.

Devil I Know” is about the twisted pleasures of going back to someone who you’re addicted to & the joy you feel in that moment of breaking your own promises,” Suki says about the track. “It’s a beautiful and sad song about being constrained to a relationship that may not be the most healthy.”

Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as singer, songwriter, and actress, but you’ll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music’s magnetic pull and always saw the medium as a way of expressing creativity and telling stories. Previous singles “Brutally”, “Good Looking” and “Valentine” drew comparisons to the Paisley Underground sound of Mazzy Star and to the 60s influenced girl group reimagining of bands like Stockholm’s The Concretes and Glasgow’s Camera Obscura.

Earlier this year, Suki was named by both NPR and Atwood Magazine as a 2022 Artist to Watch.

Previous Praise for Suki Waterhouse:

“…add to the mix her vocal style – calling to mind the exquisite tones of Elizabeth Fraser or Hope Sandoval – and a solid collection of early work that caught the ear of Sub Pop, and you’ve got a welcome addition to your 2022 playlist.” - NPR

“The resulting smoky, cinematic, guitar-rock got her signed to Sub Pop, the indie record label that first signed Nirvana and is now home to Beach House and Sleater-Kinney.“
 - Vogue

“..sounds like what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides, Now” would sound like…Here’s to more pleasant surprises like this from her book of talents.” - NYLON

Suki Waterhouse to Release Full-Length Debut Album, ‘I Can’t Let Go’ via Sub Pop on April 22nd; Watch the New Video for “Melrose Meltdown”

Suki Waterhouse has announced her upcoming full-length debut album, I Can’t Let Go, will be released Friday, April 22nd via Sub Pop Records. Additionally, she has released a brand-new single from the album, “Melrose Meltdown,” accompanied by a stylized and gorgeous music video directed by Sofia Malamute. Both “Melrose Meltdown” and I Can’t Let Go are produced by Grammy-Nominated Producer & Songwriter Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee). “Melrose Meltdown” is the third release off I Can’t Let Go; “Moves” and “My Mind,” the album’s first two songs, were released in October 2021.

“Melrose Meltdown” puts Suki’s evocative vocals on display and features her signature style of singing in haunting refrains. Suki welcomes listeners into her Melrose Meltdown where “nobody ever breaks up, we just break down.” The music video highlights the beautiful loneliness Suki croons about by showcasing her dancing solo in fragmented light. Later in the video, Suki is seen singing to the camera in the back of a pickup truck with palm trees overhead, cruising down what we can only assume must be Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

Suki Waterhouse “Moves” New Single Debuts Today - Track to Appear on Forthcoming Album to be Released via Sub Pop in 2022

Suki Waterhouse has released a brand-new single, “Moves” which comes with a visually stunning video directed by Cameron McCool. The track is the first to be released off her forthcoming full-length album, due out in 2022 via Sub Pop. “Moves” is Executive Produced by Grammy-Nominated Producer & Songwriter Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee). “Moves” is accompanied by companion track “My Mind,” a song that shows off Suki’s beautiful, airy vocals.

“…songs that linger with you long after they’re over” - NME

“[Moves is] a hazed out, guitar-heavy daydream” – NYLON

Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as a singer, songwriter and  actress, but you’ll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music.

Megan Jasper, CEO of Sub Pop said, “Suki’s songs are smart, radiant, and incredibly engaging, much like her personality. We knew the minute we heard them that they were important and needed to be out in the world. Sub Pop is over the moon to be working with her!”

“Moves” illuminates the nuances of her sound. With gentle guitar strumming throughout the verses and a rhythmic bass permeating the chorus, Waterhouse warns she might “put some goddamn moves on you” with beautiful, haunting vocals. “Moves” is a song that dreams about the impossibility of, one day, being struck by a person who changes the course of your life.

“Moves” is a song I first started writing one night on the couch, picking up the guitar and seeing what came out,” writes Suki. “It was a moment where I felt the urge to both sever a bond of connection with somebody and yet at the same time pursue and put my trust back in love.”

Previous Praise for Suki Waterhouse:
